We specialize in one stop planning for your special event or banquet. Whether a Wedding Reception, Christmas party, Special Anniversary or Birthday, Entertainment Show, Workshop or Seminar– the MAX provides one-stop organization of the major details involved in planning any event, including quality service, special menus, bartending, DJ service and decorating.
The MAX has a quality banquet facility, featuring a 1,200 square foot dance floor/stage - the largest in town - a state of the art upgraded light & sound system, 16-foot projection screen and new full stage curtains. A large sturdy portable raised stage is also available. Three levels of tiered seating on the main floor and round tables provide table seating for 200. Occupancy jumps to about 320 with access to the second level for larger events. Ample paved parking and handicap access are also available.
The MAX Centre was constructed in 1998 at an initial cost of $1.4 million. It was the drive of the MAX Student Services Society which saw construction start after five years of planning and vision. It was a cooperative project between the society, the town of Drayton Valley, Brazeau County and the Wild Rose School Division. Funding support from the community was a major factor as local businesses and organizations contributed funds and work in kind to build the centre.
At the time, its primary purpose was to be a student services facility but over the years it has grown beyond that purpose and become a true multi-use centre. During the day, the centre provides a lounge area and a hot lunch cafeteria, not only for the students of Frank Maddock High School but for the adjacent St. Anthony Roman Catholic Separate School and the H.W. Pickup Junior High School
. But after school is out, the centre becomes a community-wide service.
It is equipped with an on-site full service kitchen, a 1,200 square foot stage/dance floor, theatre lighting systems including digital effect lights, a wireless microphone and state of the art sound system, and a computer driven projection system able to display anything from DVD movies to Powerpoint presentations on a central drop-down screen. In fact, the Max Centre Society has just added $40,000 in theatre curtains and $125,000 in lighting and sound equipment and continues to make improvements to the building and grounds.
